Connect the wallet to a trusted node (preferably over Tor) before the first use, use a complex password for encryption, and don&#8217;t use biometrics!)<\/p><p dir=\"auto\">Using a hot desktop wallet doesn&#8217;t really make sense at this level unless for practical use (merchants, BTCPayServer, Blink&#8230;).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b6a6ea elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3b6a6ea\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Level 2 (Cold Wallet, Seeds Stored on Hardware Devices, Offline)<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b7303b8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b7303b8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p dir=\"auto\">The savings account stack: currently between 0.01 BTC and 0.5 BTC.<\/p><p dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.xyz\/passport-core\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation Passport<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/coldcard.com\/q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coldcard Q<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bitbox.swiss\/bitbox02\/bitcoin-only\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BitBox02 (Bitcoin only)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/store.blockstream.com\/products\/jade-plus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jade Plus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/trezor.io\/trezor-safe-5-bitcoin-only\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trezor (Safe 5\/7)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/seedsigner.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SeedSigner<\/a>.<\/p><p dir=\"auto\">They are all solid choices with a little advantage here and there, but you can&#8217;t go wrong with any. On any install\/update, double-check the software signature!<\/p><p dir=\"auto\">Instead of a device and seeds on paper, some use two devices with the same seed set in them and located in different places to add a layer of security for the raw seeds.<\/p><p dir=\"auto\">On that level, the use of a passphrase (known as the 25th word) to create a decoy wallet might be a clever move.<\/p><p dir=\"auto\">Also remember to never ever mention the amount of your stack to anybody! Write it once on the same metal plates or in your will).<\/li><li>The wallet descriptor (optional but nice) (the full line Sparrow shows, e.g., wsh(sortedmulti(2,[c3b4a72d\/48&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/2&#8242;]xpub\u2026\/0\/<em>,[a1b2c3d4\/48&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/2&#8242;]xpub\u2026\/0\/<\/em>,[e5f6g7h8\/48&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/0&#8217;\/2&#8242;]xpub\u2026\/0\/*))#checksum.
